Final Fates Tower Defense, by Xolistic, is an anime tower defence game where you summon units from many different anime worlds, place them along the path and stop waves of enemies before they reach your base. It is easy to start and surprisingly deep once grades, traits and evolutions come into play, so this guide explains how it all fits together and what to do first. How Final Fates Tower Defense works

Each match plays out on a map with a set enemy path. You spend the money you start with, and earn more as enemies fall, to deploy units along that path. Every unit has its own attack, range and attack speed, and an area-of-effect shape — single-target, circle, cone or rectangle — that decides how many enemies it can hit at once. Units come in ground, air and hybrid types, each has a placement limit, and upgrading a unit during a match raises its stats, sometimes changes its area of effect, and can unlock abilities such as slowing enemies or a powerful all-out attack for clearing a packed wave, bosses included.

Outside matches, the long game is collecting and strengthening units. You summon new units from the banner using Crystals, and units are organised by grade, with higher-grade, limited banner and secret units much rarer than common pulls — some featured units appear at very low rates. Units gain levels as you use them, Trait Shards let you reroll and improve a unit's trait for stat boosts, and selected units can evolve into stronger forms, with new evolutions added in updates. You can play solo or with friends across a selection of maps and difficulties, and clearing maps on harder settings earns extra rewards, including titles.

Getting started — your first matches

Step 1

Redeem every working code before you summon. Use the gift or codes button on the left of the screen in the lobby, type the code exactly as written — codes are case-sensitive — and press Enter. The Crystals and Trait Shards are your starting budget.

Step 2

Spend your Crystals on banner summons to build a first squad with a mix of costs and attack shapes. Do not judge a unit only by rarity: a cheap unit you can deploy on wave one is essential.

Step 3

Play the earliest maps on the easiest difficulty first. Learn where the path bends, because a unit placed where its range covers the path for longest does far more damage than the same unit on a straight.

Step 4

In each match, deploy one or two affordable units early, then save for upgrades. A fully upgraded unit usually carries harder than several unupgraded ones spread thin.

Step 5

Repeat cleared maps to level up the units you actually use, and only move up a difficulty when a map feels comfortable. Save Trait Shards until you know which units are keepers.

Progressing fast — maps, levels and evolutions

Progress comes from three loops working together. The first is map progression: work through maps and difficulties in order rather than banging your head against the hardest stage you can open, because steady clears earn more than repeated defeats. The second is levelling: units grow stronger the more you play them, so a settled core team will out-perform a constantly changing line-up of untested pulls. Replay maps you can already clear when you need levels or resources.

The third loop is improvement. A unit you expect to keep long-term is the one worth your Trait Shards: improving its trait is a lasting upgrade, whereas shards spent on a unit you replace next week are gone for good. Keep an eye on evolutions, too — if one of your regulars gains an evolution, prioritise whatever it requires, because an evolved favourite is usually a bigger jump than a fresh summon. Finally, seasonal and limited banners, such as winter banners, rotate featured units in and out, so hold some Crystals back if a banner you really want is expected soon.

Best unit roles — building a balanced team

There is no single best unit, because maps, enemy types and placement limits reward balance. Aim to cover these roles with the strongest units you own in each one.

Unit roleStrengths and when to use it
Area-of-effect damageUnits with circle, cone or rectangle attacks. Your wave-clearing backbone — place them on bends where enemies bunch up and stay in range longest.
Single-target damageHigh attack focused on one enemy. Bring these for boss waves and tough enemies that area damage alone will not finish in time.
Slow and supportUnits whose attacks slow enemies down. Every extra second an enemy spends inside your other units' range is damage you would otherwise have missed.
Air and hybrid unitsCoverage for flying and air-type threats that ground-only teams can struggle with. Never go into a map with no answer to air enemies.
Cheap early-game starterLow deployment cost and quick to upgrade. Holds the opening waves while you save for your expensive carries.

6 tips for new players

1. Redeem codes before you summon. Codes are the fastest free source of Crystals and Trait Shards, and they expire. Claiming them first can be the difference between a handful of summons and a proper first session on the banner.

2. Place for range uptime, not looks. Bends, corners and the inside of loops keep enemies in range for longest. A well-placed mid-grade unit on a corner will out-damage a rarer unit parked on a straight.

3. Upgrade before you expand. Pushing placed units through their upgrades — especially ones that change their area of effect or unlock an ability — usually beats filling every spare tile with level-one units.

4. Spend Trait Shards only on keepers. Traits are a lasting investment in a single unit. Wait until a unit has proved itself across several maps before rerolling its trait.

5. Respect placement limits and costs. You cannot field unlimited copies of your favourite unit, and the most expensive unit is useless if you cannot afford it before the early waves leak through. Build around a mix of costs.

6. Team up for hard maps. A co-ordinated group can cover more roles — one player leaning into support and slow, another into boss damage — than a solo player stretching a single budget. Use that when a difficulty wall appears.

Final Fates Tower Defense — FAQ

How do I redeem codes in Final Fates Tower Defense?

In the lobby, press the gift or codes button on the left of the screen, type the code into the 'Type code here' box exactly as it is written, and press Enter to claim the reward. Codes are case-sensitive and can only be used once, so copy them carefully from our codes page.

What are Crystals and Trait Shards used for in Final Fates Tower Defense?

Crystals are the summoning currency — you spend them on the banner to pull new units. Trait Shards are used to reroll and improve a unit's trait, which can boost stats such as damage or range. Codes are the main free source of both, alongside playing the game.

How do I get rare units in Final Fates Tower Defense?

Rare units come from banner summoning with Crystals. Higher-grade units, limited banner units and secret units appear at much lower rates than common pulls, so save Crystals for banners featuring units you want, redeem every code for extra summons, and remember that a well-levelled, well-placed common unit still clears early maps comfortably.

What are evolutions in Final Fates Tower Defense?

Selected units can evolve into stronger forms, and updates have added new evolutions over time, including for popular existing units. If a unit in your regular team can evolve, meeting its requirements is usually one of the biggest power jumps available — check your best units first before spending resources elsewhere.
