The Forge feels like a simple mining game for about ten minutes — then the rocks stop breaking, the starter sword stops killing, and every gold coin suddenly has three jobs at once. Your pickaxe, your race and how cleanly you play the forging mini-games decide everything, and the errors that burn rare ore are the ones every beginner makes on day one. Read this and you will know the full loop: how to mine and forge properly, which pickaxes to buy in which order, how to pick a race, and how to reach the Forgotten Kingdom without wasting materials — starting with the free rerolls waiting in our The Forge codes.
The Forge is a mining and blacksmithing RPG built on one loop: dig ore out of cave rocks, forge it into weapons and armor, and sell the finished gear for gold. Gold buys better pickaxes — and the pickaxe is the real progression stat, since its damage decides how fast rocks break and which tougher nodes you can crack at all.
Every rock has a health bar your swings chip away; when it breaks, it drops several ores. Ores climb a rarity ladder — Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythical — and each carries a stat multiplier, so rarer ore makes stronger gear. Some also add traits, like bonus defense on armor or critical chance on weapons.
Forging is a chain of mini-games rather than a menu. You load at least three ores into the crucible, work the bellows, pour in the target zone, and strike as the hammer rings align. There are no fixed recipes — the game shows the odds of each item your mix can produce — and clean play raises the finished piece's quality and sale price.
Redeem codes before anything else. The Forge codes mostly pay out race rerolls — the only reliable free source — so claim them first and let the rerolls shape your early build. Open Settings (the cog, top-left), scroll down to the Codes box, type a code in and press Claim.
Finish Sensei Moro's tutorial. You spawn in Stonewake's Cross, and the tutorial questline teaches mining, forging and basic combat while handing you your starter gear.
Mine the best rocks your pickaxe can break. Work the Pebbles and Rocks around the cave — break rock, collect ore, forge, sell — and put your first earnings into the Iron Pickaxe for $500, the first upgrade that changes your mining speed.
Forge gear instead of selling raw ore. Once you can fill the crucible with three or more ores, finished gear sells for far more than the ore inside it. Practice the mini-games on cheap common ore until clean forges feel automatic.
Run quests and claim Index rewards. Nord hands out mining quests and Umut the Brave wants zombies slain; both pay gold and experience. Your Index pays out as you discover ores, forge items and kill enemies, so check it often, then push toward level 10 and the portal.
At level 10 the portal opens to the Forgotten Kingdom — and the difficulty steps up hard. Pebbles and Boulders give way to Basalt Rocks, Cores and Veins — Basalt will not break for anything weaker than a Platinum Pickaxe — alongside a Volcano region with the game's richest ores and the Goblin Cave's crystals. An Enhancer NPC can upgrade your existing gear between pickaxe purchases, and a third world, the Frostspire Expanse, waits much later.
Your race sits underneath all of it. You roll in the Race menu — via your backpack's shop, or the Wizard — and each race bends your build: Dwarves mine faster, Goblins move quickly and get a discount in shops, and big races like Golem, Orc and Minotaur suit heavy weapons and combat quests. The rarest races, Angel and Demon, are strong with almost anything; treat them as a long-term chase, not a day-one requirement.
Almost every gold coin should flow into this ladder — if a rock will not take damage, the answer is the next pickaxe, not a better sword.
| Pickaxe | Price | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Starter Pickaxe | Free | Your tutorial tool — fine for Pebbles, painfully slow beyond them. |
| Iron Pickaxe | $500 | The first real upgrade, funded by your first forged sales — it makes World 1 mining feel fast. |
| Cobalt Pickaxe | $10,000 | Your first Forgotten Kingdom pickaxe — World 2 basalt laughs at World 1 tools. |
| Uranium Pickaxe | $37,500 | The mid-game workhorse for Basalt Veins and volcanic rock. |
| Mythril Pickaxe | $67,500 | A serious damage jump for deep World 2 farming and its Legendary and Mythical ores. |
| Arcane Pickaxe | $125,000 | The graduation pickaxe of the early game, and the benchmark for later upgrades. |
Between Iron and Cobalt sits the Platinum Pickaxe, World 1's graduation goal — you need Platinum strength before Forgotten Kingdom Basalt will break at all.
1. Spend gold on pickaxes first. Mining power gates your ore, income and next world — weapons and armor are bought with what the pickaxe earns.
2. Forge heavy pieces to sell. Heavy armor and colossal weapons earn the most per batch of ore — when gold is the goal, fill the crucible and think big.
3. Never sell rare ore raw. A Legendary ore sold raw is pocket change; forged into gear, it is worth many times more.
4. Match quests to your race. Fast, small races clear mining quests quickly; big tanky races finish combat quests faster. Playing against your race's strengths is the slow lane.
5. Do not burn rerolls chasing Angel or Demon. Rerolls are scarce and codes are their main free source. A Dwarf or Goblin played well out-earns a badly played rare race.
6. Claim your Index rewards. Discoveries, forges and kills all pay Index milestones — easy gold new players routinely leave unclaimed.

Almost all codes give race rerolls, which you spend in the Race menu to roll for a new race; some also add totems or other small items. Redeem them through Settings — the cog at the top-left — by scrolling to the Codes box, typing the code and pressing Claim. There is no level requirement, so brand-new players can claim them straight away.
Your pickaxe, every time. Its damage is your mining speed, and mining speed controls your ore income, which funds everything else. Climb the ladder — Iron first, Platinum strength before World 2, then Cobalt, Uranium, Mythril and Arcane — and let weapons and armor come from the gold it earns.
Forge it, once you have at least three ores to load into the crucible. Finished weapons and armor sell for much more than the raw ore inside them — heavy armor and colossal weapons most of all — and clean mini-game play raises the quality and price further. Selling raw ore only makes sense in the opening minutes, when you need the Iron Pickaxe money fast.
Reach level 10 on Stonewake's Cross, then take the portal to the Forgotten Kingdom. Go prepared: its Basalt rocks need at least a Platinum-strength pickaxe, the enemies hit harder than anything in World 1, and your first job after arriving is saving for the Cobalt Pickaxe at $10,000.
